Siemens LCS group in Cairo needs 1 Development Engineer.
Siemen’s LCS division develops CAPITAL, a software suite used globally by automotive and aerospace manufacturers and wire harness suppliers to enhance their electrical distribution system (EDS) design and manufacturing flows.
CAPITAL has a large codebase and development environment primarily based on the Java platform. Development teams work in global development centers, follow Scrum methodologies, and utilize Agile best practices backed by high levels of test automation.
Job Title: Java Developer (Contractor Position)
Main Responsibilities
• Take part in SCRUM ceremonies (and Kanban workflows where appropriate)
• Develop functionality within a large Java based tool suite (making a hands-on contribution to the code and design)
• Follow best practices in software development (SOLID, DRY, TDD, BDD, retrospective etc.)
• Work closely with other developers to design suitable solutions and with Product Owners to understand customer flows and elaborate technical requirements
• Work with the customer support team to investigate and manage customer issues & activities
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 1-5 years of experience.
• Experience with developing software using a modern programming language (Java) with proven routine application of object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Hands on experience in routine application of object-oriented design, and test-driven development (TDD).
• Familiarity with relational databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of designing suitable solutions using appropriate algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies such as SCRUM and/or Kanban.
• Experience in refactoring of code of varying complexity and/or automated test coverage is a plus!
• Experience developing/maintaining object model and/or public APIs.
• Experience significantly improving performance, capacity, and/or scalability.
• Familiarity with electrical and harness domains is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with a quantitative analysis-oriented mindset.
